Rain Shower

Experimenting with charcoal using it very lightly to see what works and what doesn't. Not too sure how this worked out but it was fun doing it.

Portrait

A birthday gift for my husband - a portrait of our favourite one-legged magpie - Gammi in oils.

Thorn bush

Well here it is 40 hours and done. I really enjoyed doing such a large format, even in charcoal!
After 30 hours - and still going.................

This is my most recent work, a 2 meter by 1,5 meter charcoal drawing. It is no where near finished even with the 20 hours already spent on it. Same again to finished stage I would guess.

A close up of one corner.

Inspirations

Donald Friend
Ian Fairweather
Robert Juniper
John Wolseley
John Olsen

I am reading an autobiogtaphy of Australian icon artist John Olsen - Drawn from Life.
It is such an inspiring book - I will have to get my hands on my own copy. I have been looking into Australian Modernists and am so impressed, I had forgotten all about them with my research in European and American Modernists. There is something about the Australian artists that connect with the outback spirit here.

D.I.R.T. Soap
Amazingly DIRT stands for Dirt Ideation Reduction Therapy used in treating Obsessive-Compulusive Hand Washers!. Great isn't it.

Heaps of TIME

My new studio space - a bit empty at the moment.

Picassoesque Lucy

My recent life drawing of Lovely Lucy, a bit Picassoesque don't you think?
